This page is for discussing changes to the http://pylonshq.com/ web site in preparation for the 1.0 release.
Discussions about the Pylons Logo, and the Pylons project name and pylonshq.com domain are on separate pages.

Home page

Mike Orr writes: Christoph Haas has written an excellent overview of Pylons' advantages, which would go well on the home page. I would add some quotes from satisfied users, and a link to a page of Pylons success stories.

Menu bar / organization of pages

The 0.9.5 menu bar is: Home / Docs / Wiki / Community / FAQ / Install / Pastebin / Search Docs.

It's hard to find info about the Subversion trunk or bug tickets in this hierarchy. The tickets are under "Community", "Development Page", "Tickets". This makes the development page hard to find, and the svn trunk checkout instructions are harder still to find. They are not on the development page but instead on the bottom of the "Wiki" page linked from the main menu. The development page consists of a "Roadmap" page which is useless: users want to know when future Pylons versions will be released and what the development focus of each version is. Instead the Roadmap just shows the percentage of open vs closed tickets, yippee. Given that not all issues have actual tickets created for them, this is misleading.

Better organization is in the SQLAlchemy menu bar: Home / Features / News / Documentation / Wiki / Bugs / FAQ / Community / Download. Paste uses: Python Paste / Modules / Trac / Discuss / paste.deploy / paste.script / Download. This makes it easier to find the tickets because they're under a top-level link or a well-recognized "Trac" link.
